What are the types of stamping dies?
I believe everyone has heard of stamping dies, do you know what types of stamping dies there are?
I believe everyone has heard of stamping dies, do you know what types of stamping dies there are? Let's take a look together!
Classified by process attributes
Punching dies, bending dies, stretching dies, forming dies, and riveting dies are classified according to their process performance.
1. Punching die: A mold in which materials are separated along a closed or open shape.
2. Bending die: In order to obtain a workpiece mold with a certain angle and shape, it is necessary to bend the sheet metal or other blanks along a straight line (bending curve).
3. Stretch mold: The blank becomes an open hollow part, further changing the shape and size of the mold.
4. Forming die: It is a mold that directly replicates the shape of the blank or semi-finished product based on the convex and concave molds, while the material itself only produces local plastic deformation, such as bulging die, shrinking die, expanding die, undulating forming die, flanging die, forming die, etc.
5. Riveting die: Use external force to connect or overlap the various components in a certain order and manner, and then form a whole.
Classified by the degree of process combination
The four categories of single process molds, composite molds, progressive molds, and transfer molds are classified according to the degree of process combination.
1. Single process mold: In the stroke of the stamping part, the mold only has one stamping process.
2. Composite mold: With only one station, two or more stamping processes can be completed simultaneously on the same punch press and workstation.
3. Progressive die (also known as continuous die): There are two or more workstations in the feed direction of the blank, and two or more stamping processes are gradually completed at different positions on a one stroke press.
4. Transfer mold: Combining the characteristics of single process molds and progressive molds, a mechanical arm transmission system is mainly used to achieve rapid transfer within the product mold, greatly improving production efficiency, reducing production costs, saving material costs, and ensuring stable quality.
Classified by product processing methods
According to different processing methods of products, molds can be divided into five categories: punching and shearing molds, bending molds, drawing molds, forming molds, and compression molds.
1. Punching and cutting molds: Processing molds through cutting.
2. Bending die: Based on the shape, accuracy, and production situation of the part, bend the flat blank into an angle.
3. Drawing mold: A container made from a rough surface with a bottom but no gaps.
4. Forming die: Refers to the method of locally deforming and changing the shape of the blank in the form of convex forming die, rolling edge forming die, necking forming die, hole flange forming die, and circular edge forming die.
5. Compression mold: Using strong pressure to make the metal blank flow and deform into the desired shape.
